Visiting Miami on a Budget

Miami, also known as the ‘Magic City’, is the crown jewel of South Florida. Famous for its glamorous life, glittering beaches, wild parties, fun-filled cruises, and eye-catching art, it’s also one of the most expensive cities in the US. However, with a little research and a few smart adjustments, it’s entirely possible to spend a blissful and memorable vacation.
Here are a few ways you can experience the city without it being hard on your wallet:

Choose budget-friendly accommodations:

It’s true that Miami has some of the most pricey hotels and resorts, but it also has numerous budget-friendly B&Bs, cheap motels, cute little boutique hotels, and apartments for short-term rent. Some of the top budget hotels include Ocean Reef Suites, Crest Hotel Suites, and Seagull hotel.
For an even cheaper option, you can stay in hostel dorms such as Ocean Blue Hostel and The Tropics Hotel & Hostel. Not only are they cheap with as little as $20 per night, but they’re also clean and well cared for. A private hostel dorm costs just $100 to $120 for a double room.

Go Beach Hopping:

The southern coast of Florida is dotted with extraordinary properties with literally hundreds of gorgeous people (thanks to plastic surgery!). Spend your time in Miami by becoming a beach-bum and enjoy the extraordinary free-access beaches such as Surfside, South Beach, and South Pointe Park. Miami Beaches can also be a great place for sightseeing with vibrant and trendy bars and shops.

Experience Miami Art:

Miami’s Ocean Drive is lined with dazzling historic architecture. You can take a walking tour of the Art Deco District to get the full experience of one of the largest concentration of the 1920s to 1930s building structures in the world. The buildings are colorful with intricate details that have a century-old history as well as interesting décor elements that will show you a glimpse of the distant past.
You can also take advantage of the Coral Gables Gallery Night every first Friday of the month and enjoy an art walk and with free access to 30 art galleries and delightful complimentary wines. The Gables Gallery Stroll if one of the best art experiences in the city and it won’t cost you anything if you can resist the temptation of the 60+ restaurants along the way!

Explore Miami:

One of the most fun things to do in Miami is to explore the rich Cuban roots of the city. Visit Little Havana, Miami’s famous Cuban neighborhood and experience delicious food, stroll along the vibrant streets, or even go Salsa dancing!

Get Close to Nature:

The Everglades National Park has been called as one of the most extraordinary nature experiences in the U.S. The park spans over a million acres of sub-tropical jungles, is home to dozens of endangered species, and contains large swamps where you can see the mesmerizing sight of the American Crocodile. Just a short drive from the city, this is a must visit in Miami. With an admission fee of $10 per day, you can enjoy camping, walking and canoeing in the Everglades.

How to get around in Miami?
